Calling all aspiring young thespians! Pre-registration is now open for the Roxy Regional School of the Arts.
Since 1995, we have been introducing youth ages 10 to 18 to the experience of live theatre and expanding their knowledge of the craft through the School of the Arts, which has brought such productions to the mainstage as Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., Aladdin Jr., 101 Dalmatians Kids, The Jungle Book Jr. and this season’s Shrek The Musical Jr.
The program returns this fall on Saturday, September 10, with an exciting new curriculum and educational staff. Executive Director Ryan Bowie, company choreographer Emily Rourke, stage manager Samantha Hodson, company member Lacey Connell and guest professional actors will lead students through lessons in Theatre History, Movement & Dance, Technical Theatre, Voice, Acting, Improvisation, Audition Techniques and more.
Classes meet every Saturday from 9:00am to 12:30pm. The session will culminate in a free showcase for family and friends on Saturday, December 10, which will also serve as auditions for the principal roles in the School of the Arts’ Spring 2017 production, The Pirates of Penzance, Jr.
Registration for the School of the Arts is $100 per month (cash or check only, paid on the first Saturday of the month). Pre-registration, while not mandatory, is available in person at the Roxy Regional Theatre between 9:00am and 2:00pm, Mondays through Fridays.
