I am so grateful. This past week, as well as this current week, the theatre was able make up some of the school shows that were cancelled due to snow this past month. “Once Upon A Time” is such a great show for young school children to see. It gives them familiar fairy tales they know from books, performed on the stage – the characters and relationships coming to life in front of them! I hope this stirs a passion for the arts in some of the children. I hope the children who haven’t been to see live theatre before had a good time experiencing something new and fun that’s like nothing else on earth; I hope they love it; and I hope they come back. Kudos to this Monday’s school for rescheduling several times because of the snow. Though I think it was cancelled 3 times before they got to see it, the school kept trying – not giving up the chance for those young people to see live theatre.
I am so grateful. Every night before I go to bed, I write down at least five things I was grateful for that day in a journal. I picked this up from Oprah, and I love how it has changed my life. It is so easy to focus on the negative things that happen during the day, but with this gratitude journal, I have a goal – to write down at least five things I am thankful for during the day. What she said it did to her life, which I find has started to happen to me, is that she said she would go through out her day looking for things to be grateful for (knowing that she had to come up with five by day’s end), and in turn, it has made her recognize the positive things in her life as they happen to her, and remember them at the end of the day.
I am so grateful. I am so grateful for life, health, my family, friends, partner, learning new things, and experiencing the world. I am grateful to be doing what I love – performing – for my career. I am grateful to be given the opportunity to teach acting and dance here at the Roxy; teaching is another passion that lives as deeply in my heart as performing. I am grateful for watching the episode of Oprah that turned me on to the idea of a gratitude journal. I am grateful for having so many things to be grateful for that it would take a book to try to capture them all. I am grateful that I go through the negative things in life, so I can appreciate the positive things – and let those positive things be the important ones and the ones to remember.
I picked up a journal and only had to write down five things I was grateful for. That’s all I did, and it has truly changed my way of thinking and my life. Pick up a journal. Be grateful.
