I’m so excited to be back in Clarksville. Mainly to be working on a new show with a great cast of friends whom I’ve gotten close to. I am very proud of the way Civil War went and the performances of the actors, but am really enjoying this new show a lot. The music is great and the talent level is superb. And the cast came prepared so that makes everything go even smoother.
See I grew up listening to country and folk music, and though I was never a big John Denver fan, the music resonates with my past and my family life. I always felt like the lyrics spoke to a certain point of my life, and this show’s music is no different. The songs John Denver wrote are creative, emotional, and moving on so many levels that I think anyone who comes to see the show will relate in some way to the music and will share the experience that I get while performing.
I am also excited to start blocking the show today. Tom is a creative and imaginative director and I know that he will make this show as beautiful as I think John Denver would want it to be. And, as I’ve said before, he gives us the freedom that we as actors long for in our work. He lets us create and play with our characters and the songs while still putting the puzzle pieces together to get a finished and polished piece of theatre that everyone, both the actors and the audience will enjoy.
