Roxy Continues to Thrive Due to “Kindness of Strangers”

by RoxyRegionalTheatre on September 30, 2011

“I’m proud of you.” That was said to me at the Roxy Gala. Proud. I had waited my whole life for my father to say those words … but they never came. They came instead, however, from someone I wished had been my father.

My father has been gone for ten years, but he spoke to me at the Gala. Prayers are always answered, but not always in the time we would like. God owns no watch. He keeps his own time.

We have survived due to, as Blanche DuBois says in Streetcar, “…the kindness of strangers,” and on those who have been with us from the beginning, or those who have come on board to further the new center for arts and education.

Thanks also go to our 29th Anniversary Gala guests: Herb and Sallie Baggett, Senator Tim Barnes, Dick and Alice Batson, Tracy Belew, Jimmy and Piper Bell, Harvey and Shirley Blanck, Dee Boaz, Joseph Britton, Budweiser of Clarksville, Mr. and Mrs. Jamison Burris, John and LuAnnette Butler, Britney Campbell, Merci Chartrand, Jerry and Anne Clark, Richard and Lisa Conklin-Bishop, James and Cassie Coughlin, Ron and Sharon Patterson-Crisp, Dr. Meredith Crisp, Jill Crow and Tracy Jackson, Pat and Linda Cunningham, Ernie and Joan DeWald, Mitchell Ketchens and Monica Drake, Conrad and Alison Edington, Mac and Linda Kay Edington, Christine Everett, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Farrell, Mike Fink and Cindy Marsh, Leah Foote, Solie Fott and Suzy Crockarell, Brian and Josie Fuller, Meredith Gildrie, Gerald and Jane Gilman, Jim and Robin Goodrich, Larry and Barbara Goolsby, Bill and Stephanie Grabenstein, Annelle Gracey, Ken Grambihler, Faye Green, Kay Haase, Evans and Sherri Harvill, Sal and Andrea Herrera, Kathy Higinbotham, Richard and Mary Jo Hogan, Ken and Jacquelyn Hudson, Liz Hurlbut, Bruce and Debbie Jobe, Baiba Kelley, Thomas and Vicki King, Barry Kitterman and Jill Eichhorn, Kraft CPAs, Nancy Ladd, Judy and Fred Landiss, Timothy and Kris Lee, Stacy Leiser, Martha Levardsen and Jack Grady, Joan Lillard, Marge Lillard, Frank and Patti Lott, Jim and Dottie Mann, Walter and Cindy Marczak, Brad and Lisa Martin, Larry and Kay Martin, Marianne Mayer, Ron and Suzanne McCafferty, Mr. and Mrs. Larry McMillan, Gary and Janet Mund, Christopher and Nicole O’Connor, Margaret Olson, Jim and Lee Orgain Jr., Lena and Jimmy Orgain, Jodi Patmore, Planters Bank, Pat Schmidt, Linda Shephard, Judi Sinks, John and Cathy Stanton, Sammy and Kathy Stuard, Elizabeth Thomas, Nancy Varble, Steven Walker, Bill and Anne Wall, Ben and Erin Webber, Phil and Jill Whittinghill, Dennis West and Carolyn Wickwire, and Mary Nell Wooten, among others.

Heidi says at the end of her story, “If I spend every moment, for the rest of my days, thanking God for all his goodness to me, that still would not be enough.”

Beehive plays Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, through October 15. Yoga continues from 8:30am until 9:30am, Monday through Friday. Saturday class continues with drama, dance and voice with Dr. Thomas King.

See you at the theatre!
