Clues to the Roxy’s 32nd Season, TARZAN Continues with Parties

by RoxyRegionalTheatre on May 23, 2014

If you didn’t happen to make it to “Happenin’ at the Hollemans'” earlier this month, then you haven’t a clue as to what the Roxy Regional Theatre’s 32nd Season has to offer. To help you, here are a few clues:

• Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra were in the movie, and Nancy Walker was in the original. (Stacy Turner will return to the stage in this role!)

• Washington wrote it … but not George.

• Michael Renny and Janet Scott were both there.

• George Cukor made the first movie version … but they were not “little.”

• Fred, Mary and Topper round out the cast.

• There is a farmer in it … but it is not Ol’ McDonald.

• All music aside, they are just angels.

• It rhymes with treasure twice, and Will wrote it.

• Never on Sunday, but always early in the week.

• In the movie, Tom Hanks had to convince her.

• Fred and Ginger did them, but Ginger did them backwards … just ask Jack Benny.

• There are 76 of them.

Those children who are hankering to try their hand at the unique art form of theatre can easily begin their journey with us through the Parks and Rec Summer Theatre program. All young people ages 10 to 16 are welcome to join. The requirements are simple: just sign up, wear lace-up shoes (no sandals or flip-flops), and bring a folder and an actor’s tool (a pencil). Everything else will be provided.

This summer we will be workshopping Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The program runs June 2 to July 10, with classes meeting Mondays through Thursdays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Registration, which is $30 for the entire six weeks, is available online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com or at the Parks and Recreation office on Public Square, beginning May 27.

Disney’s Tarzan — with Riley Jenkins (Young Tarzan), Julio Iguina-Pascual (Tarzan), Jesse Boyle (Jane), Colby Adams, Gavin Berlyak, Addisyn Bryant, Adianna Cervantes, Kourtni Cottrell, Breanna Cox, Olivia Creighton, Kiara Cutting, Grace Davis, Cheyenne Deibert, Allison Ferebee, Whitney Flickinger, Samantha Grimes, Ehma Herrera, Vivian Hurn, Truman Jepson, Jacob Johnson, Emma Justice, Ashley Knowles, Regan Lawton, Tommy Lester, Caroline Long, Patrick Long, Katherine McCarty, Sidney McCarty, Amirah Moss, Lauren Mund, Madeline O’Connor, Cameron Pena, Lillie Rich, Hannah Robertson, Aidan Sartor, Tristan Sartor, Georgia Smith, Austin Stewart, Jewel Stewart, Jordan Weaver, Lucy Wilkinson and Amy Wyer — continues on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6pm and Saturdays at 2pm and 6pm, through May 31.

Tomorrow and next Saturday, May 31, are our “Me Tarzan, You Jane” parties. The fun starts at 1:00pm across the street at Edward’s with a lunch menu of chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, french fries, beverage and dessert. Guests can have photos taken with Tarzan, participate in jungle crafts under the marquee, and then swing across the street to the Roxy at 2:00pm for Tarzan. Tickets are $25, and all children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

See you at the theatre!
