Clarksville Tales…

So Mother Nature threw off our Once Upon A Time schedule for the second week in a row. So I took the time off to do what I do best, go to the gym! Yes, on Tuesday morning, I scraped the snow off my car and made my way to the Clarksville YMCA to participate in my first body bump class. My roommate Faith has been taking the class about twice a week since we first got here. I’ve been pretty afraid of it. I have a lot of endurance, but I’m not the strongest gal in the world, so I knew I had to conquer my fear and go for it. It was a fun, but very difficult workout and I stretched so much afterwards that I didn’t feel too sore the next day.

One of the best parts of being in Clarksville is getting to work out that YMCA. The facility is amazing, and this is coming from someone who has belonged to many gyms in both New York and Los Angeles. John is always amazed that Faith and I go to the gym so much. But I love the gym for many reasons. It helps to relax me and I always feel better after I go. It also helps my vocal quality because all that heavy breathing wakes my voice up. I also find the gym to be fun (even when I’m really pushing myself). And most importantly, I am a gal who likes to eat! If I don’t go to the gym, it becomes a really sad situation. Luckily, I’ve been working out consistently for over nine months, and when I’m in NY I take a lot of dance classes, so that keeps me in shape.

We did our first ever two show day for Once Upon A Time this week. We had many two show days scheduled, but the snow kept messing those up. I have to say, I really found it exhausting. Once Upon A Time takes so much energy and I realized that I really have to pace myself. We also had a sold out weekend of The Vagina Monologues. Faith’s mom actually came to the Saturday night show and she laughed so hard at everything. I was so nervous for Faith because she has some of the raunchier monologues in the show and I would have been petrified to have to do that in front of my mother!

Well our full Ain’t Misbehavin’ cast is finally here. It feels so good to be reunited with Rendell (we starred together in Bubbling Brown Sugar at Broward Stage Door Theatre in fall 2009) and Brittney is fitting right in. They must think that we are all a bit insane, especially Keith and I, since Keith antagonizes me every minute of every day. But it’s all in jest (at least I hope so!) I am so excited to start rehearsals this week on my dream show! We actually sung through some Jitterbug Waltz in the car on the way to Wal-Mart. I have to say that it sounded amazing. Get ready Clarksville!
